Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita

The Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita, built in 1971, houses more than 2500 different animal from 500 plus species of animal. Everything from mammals to reptiles and amphibians make their home at this world famous zoo, which is well known for its conservation efforts. It is located near Wichita, and is the most popular tourist attraction the state has to offer. The whole family will love getting the chance to explore all the different sections of the zoo. You can see animals from around the globe at the zoo, including wallaroos from Australia, capybaras from South America, and the king of beasts: the lion out of Africa. You will also be able to see some animals that are rarely glimpses at zoos in the United States, including Amur leopards, and an entire group of gorillas. Our own backyard has quite a few great animals to offer as well, and you will find cougars, bears, and buffalos at the zoo. Don’t forget to stop by the penguins at the Cessna Penguin Cove, and the domesticated animals in the Children’s Farm. The kids will love both of these areas. You can also grab a bite to eat while in the zoo. You and the kids will have a wonderful time at the Sedgwick County Zoo.
