Buying used cars at auction can be a great place to pick up a real bargain; prices are normally cheaper than anywhere else in the market. There are though reasons why prices are so low.  Used cars sold at auction do not come with the same guarantees that you get from car firms. Some used cars at auction are sold as seen which means that they may have serious damage, although other used cars may have a guarantee as to no major mechanical defects. It is normally cases of buyer beware, although at most auctions you get a chance to see the car and engine before the car goes under the hammer.
