Self screening

August 19th, 2008 by admin

How do you check out your new hires? Have you ever tried to do a background screening on an individual by calling their former employer and asking questions about them. All you will be able to get from that source is a confirmation that the individual worked there and with the individual’s permission their final salary. Not much to go on when making a hiring decision. Sometimes you can get more by by-passing human resources and speaking to their first line supervisor or even a co-worker or two. The amount of information you will get from these is sources is in direct proportion to the stealth you use in asking the questions.
