Hypnosis and Meditation: They’re Not the Same

March 19th, 2009 by admin

Many people think that hypnosis and meditation are the same thing. They’re not. They’re very different. In hypnosis you’re planting suggestions into your subconscious mind. This is not the case in meditation — in meditation your aim is to clear your mind. In meditation you allow whatever thoughts to come into your mind to be there, but you don’t attach yourself to them in any way. Over time, as you meditate, you will be able to identify a thought, and let it go. The easiest way to think of the difference between hypnosis and meditation is to realize that in hypnosis you’re essentially programming your mind; in meditation, you’re letting your mind be.
