Facial masks are frequently used to control oil. The most common homemade acne treatment that is made into a facial mask is oatmeal with water. This is made into a paste, and is applied to the face, and let it absorb the oils until it dries. Then it is rinsed with cool water. This is most effective in the evenings, after the face has been exposed to all forms of dirt and has produced lots of oils.
Another facial mask that can be made at home is made of egg whites, with a few drops of witch hazel and lemon juice. This is also applied on the face and left for 15 minutes until the skin feels tight. This should be rinsed with lukewarm water.
Tomatoes also make a good mask. Its pulp is used after the juice has been drained.
