Torsion and Extension Spring Systems

December 3rd, 2011 by admin

There are two types of springs systems used in garage doors which are extension and torsion. Extension springs are used less frequently because they are weak than the torsion springs. Extension springs are easy to install and these are installed with large cables. Their maintenance is also easy. On the other hand torsion springs are used more frequently because they can bear heavy stress of modern automated doors. These springs are dangerous than extension springs and these are installed only by professionals. If you try to install or repair torsion springs at your own then, you can get into trouble very easily.
