Home Quilting Machine: Marvellous Facts

August 21st, 2009 by admin

Quilting is a form of stitching used to bind 3 layers of fabric meant either for utilitarian or decorative purpose. A quilt is formed with 3 layers namely the top cover fabric, filling layer material and bottom backing fabric. Quilt stitching is created with traditional hand sewing and modern day longarm quilting equipments.

A quilter holds the fabric with a quilting frame and drifts the needle and thread through the layers. In machine quilting, a sewing machine is used to tack stitch or pin the quilt fabric on either ends. Though long arm quilting systems are designed mainly for industrial use, it is a boon to the quilters. Shortly to follow, home quilting machine.
