As far as I’m concerned, if anyone was to ask my advice on whether or not they should get counseling when their marriage is in trouble, I wouldn’t suggest it — in fact, I’d tell them absolutely don’t do it.

I’m only basing this on my own personal Christian marriage counseling experience though, so it’s not like I’m an expert on it or anything. But what I will say is that I know a lot of couples who are just as against it as I am, and very few if any who are strong believers in its power to save marriages or even to help them.
