The Zhu Zhu pets - a collection of five motorized hamsters with artificial intelligence – have been flying off the shelves in the USA having been launched only at the end of August. Stock levels are falling and prices are starting to edge up, both for the hamsters themselves and their numerous toys and accessories. Up to now, there has been little interest in the UK – where Zhu Zhu pets are known as Go Go pets. They didn’t feature anywhere in Amazon’s bestseller list. Until yesterday. After a very brief piece on morning television sales have started to rocket. It looks like the Zhu Zhu/Go Go pets are going to be a Christmas hit on both sides of the Atlantic this year.
