You are convinced of the value of a study abroad program, but do you need to also convince those around you? If so, this post will help you!
There are many reasons to study abroad. First, you will learn a new language, get to know a new culture, and get an international dimension to your CV. Second, a study abroad experience promotes your “employability” and increases the job opportunities available to you. Finally, especially for the EU, it enhances knowledge of the less commonly used European languages and develops a sense of European citizenship.

However, be aware that unless you stay long enough (more than one year), you will not return bilingual. You will be able to speak the language fluently from about six months, especially if you play the game of total immersion: contacts and friendships with natives, preferably sharing the same roof with locals!
