Reliable Altimeter the Suunto Core delivers!

Altimeters and barometers both rely on air pressure measurement. They measure the weight of a column of air stretching from the device to the limit of the Earth’s atmosphere. At the sea level there is more air above you than in the mountain area. If you take your Suunto Core uphill, there’s less air above it, and thus less air pressure. Similarly, if you take the device downhill, there’s more air above it, and thus more air pressure. Altimeters interpret these changes in air pressure as changes in elevation. In comparison, barometers like the Suunto Core interpret changes in air pressure as changes in weather conditions. Generally, high pressure is related to good weather. In a high pressure, air descends and becomes warmer. Warm air prevents formation of clouds. In a low pressure, air rises and becomes cooler. The water carried by cool air condenses into clouds. This is why low pressure is generally associated with bad weather.
